On Sunday 18th March I took in game 3 of 3 over this quick visit to Sydney and ventured over to Lottoland Stadium (Brookvale Oval for the diehards!) for the Manly NRL match on a boiling hot 38-40C Sydney day.
Manly, under the great work of fan engagement pro Haley Keays have done a lot for fans out here. I thought that the cool ute seat view and the kids corner activities were smartly executed to get fans in to the ground earlier but also the addition of the food trucks and the sign saying thanks positioned at the gates as fans were leaving the venue were both nice touches as well. How simple and effective is it to have a sign like this saying ‘thank you for coming to our venue, get home safely’ as well as providing free sunscreen. The little touches go a long way for families. It’s since also been good to see how Manly have added a few more incentives like $10 meal deals (pie and beer), member of the month and game day helpers.
Some lively debates were had on social and if you were following the discussions (@MrBlairHughes) regarding F&B options, water stations, sunscreen and other essential fan experience elements you’d have seen why I value the need to constantly listen to fan’s feedback in this space.
It’s honest, authentic, to the point and cuts deep as to what fans and families alike want from spending their activity budgets on these leisure activities.
A huge win by the Eagles going out 54-0 winners in the end.
I could not recommend a trip across the harbour to a game here enough.
It’s possibly one of Australia’s best game day adventures to catch a Sydney ferry to the game especially on a gorgeous blue sky Sydney day like today.
