Brisbane Broncos NRLW Fan Experience, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, 27/8/22

What a weekend of sport in Brisbane this weekend with the Brisbane Broncos and Brisbane Lions both playing standalone matches at Suncorp Stadium and The Gabba respectively.

Took Ramona along for the National Rugby League #NRLW match against Sydney Roosters today in what was a really enjoyable fan experience and will follow it up with the Lions match against Fremantle Dockers tomorrow in Woolloongabba.

Quick shout out to the helpful stadium staff (for their dancing for Ramona from the snackbars as we walked through the concourse), the Broncos marketing, fan engagement and design team (for the cool free posters and trading cards) and the female athletes who are paving the way for the next generation – her generation.

NRL BRISBANE BRONCOS FAN EXPERIENCE REVIEW, SUNCORP STADIUM, BRISBANE 13/8/22

Another brilliant fan experience and event presentation last night from Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium culminating with a Broncos win 28-10 over Newcastle Knights.


The Paddock Club outside the ground is always a highlight pre-game with the seating area, food trucks and kids zone while the activations inside with the KIA ‘Beast Mode’ and lighting and fireworks show have stepped up the game day entertainment this year.


The free Broncos trading cards have also been some of the best design work from NRL club land this year too.


Well done to all NRL fans from both teams for being respectful during the Paul Green moment of silence and for the venue for setting up a flower memorial outside for fans too.

EKKA 2022 EXPERIENCE, BRISBANE SHOWGROUNDS, BRISBANE, QLD 7/8/22

After the COVID hiatus derailed our plans to go in 2020 and 2021, I was so excited to finally take Ramona and Gem along to their first ever EKKA experience at the Brisbane Showgrounds on day 1, Saturday 7th August.

I’ve always had such special moments and fond memories of the EKKA having taken my gran along in her later years after she took me to the EKKA for so many years as a child.

I could not fault the experience and it was especially fantastic and well catered for parents with young children with a multitude of easy navigation way-finding, change rooms, toilets, inclusive F&B options and so many spaces to check out.

We made a big list using the EKKA website and app and ticked off about 20 experiences over the two days we ended up visiting. We had a huge long day on the Saturday and then went back on the final day.

It was also lots of fun to do my regular 4BC sports reporting media work at the 4BC Brisbane outside broadcast stand with Spencer Howson on four occasions over the course of the 2022 EKKA.

Taking Ramona round to the showbag pavilion (the BLUEY one was the standout), farm animals, performances, Dole Whip stand, farm food site, agricultural displays, food displays and activities for kids was just such a fun day out. We bought tickets the day they were released and snapped a steal paying only $30 for two adults and a child.

Ramona had such a fun day of 8 hours of walking, eating, sight-seeing, arts and crafts and sleeping, thus enabling mum and dad to have a cold beer under a perfect sunny Brissy Sunday in the bar precinct.

The BLUEY phase has started and to be honest it was the best showbag along with the Bertie Beetle Showbags.

Overall a really fun family day out and a moment I’ll cherish with my family for a long time.
